Hi friends!
-Living Intense-
This website is a place for me to showcase my passions and my projects, and to write about things that inspire me. While many of my interests have changed over time, a few have remained constant. My love for space exploration and space science has been a driving force in my life for as long as I can remember, and that continues to ring true. Similarly, my love for animals and their conservation, as well as the conservation of their habitats (particularly our polar friends and their ice habitats) has remained a consistent passion of mine throughout the years. I’ve also always had a passion for adventure, which has manifested in many ways throughout my life. Sometimes it looks like skydiving and BASE jumping, sometimes it looks like mountaineering, sometimes it looks more like meditation and the exploration of my own mind. A newer passion in my life has been mental health. In my late 20s I was diagnosed with Major Depressive Disorder. The process of understanding what that meant and starting to get treatment for it was a profound and exponentially positive life-changing experience for me. One of my main objectives now in life is to help others who are struggling to understand their needs, and to get the help they need and deserve. This website talks about these topics, and many more. Thanks for taking some time to check it out! -DD
Stories
My brother and I coined the title “living intense” when we were in high school. We spent a lot of time traveling and literally living “in tents” while chasing new and different, often “intense” experiences, and we thought it was a fun play on words.
Below is a link to my blog, where I share stories or thoughts about whatever I feel like writing about.
Space
For some reason, space has always been a driving passion in my life. It seems to weave itself in and out of everything I do, so… here’s to space!
Space was my first passion. Ice is my growing passion.
Ice
My study of the search for life in our solar system inevitably led to my study of ice in the solar system. That, then, led to a study of Earth’s ice, and the unavoidable realization that the health of our planet is hopelessly linked to the state of this ice. This ice must be protected if we wish to preserve the planet we love.
